Spring, is that You? Paint Spring Flowers Basics in Watercolor Workshop

Join Marcella Kriebel in an afternoon of painting flowers at Collective Kitchen! 

We'll cover the basics of watercolor and Marcella will share her approach to illuminating a simple flowers composition. Marcella will share a series of her favorite watercolor techniques that build dimension and depth in paintings.  Outlines of Marcella's flowers on watercolor paper will be provided for students, as well as blank watercolor paper and all watercolor paints.

This class is designed for everyone, from beginning painters to more advanced.  

Drink Included: a flower themed spring beverage, created by Collective Kitchen to be enjoyed while you paint. 

Skill Level: Beginner, intermediate, all levels are welcome.

Join watercolor artist Marcella Kriebel in an engaging session of watercolor painting an original recipe made by mixologist Gina Chersevani.

 

Participants will enjoy a specialty seasonal cocktail or mocktail prepared by Buffalo and Bergen, and each will be supplied line art of an illustrated recipe of Chersevani's drink to paint in watercolor.

Marcella will teach five basic techniques in watercolor during the class, designed for all levels

As these watercolor techniques are shared, a demo of how to make the drink at home will be shown as well. Each participant will bring home one of Chersevani's classic cocktails as a hand colored illustrated recipe. Art materials for this project are included.

This event is a fantastic combination of merriment and creativity, a fun outing for creatives, couples, friends and family!

In this class, we’ll explore various ways to visually document your travel experiences in a sketchbook journal. Students are encouraged to bring mementos from recent trips—photos, tickets, receipts, or paper souvenirs.

We’ll capture the essence of your journey through quick sketches, selecting key moments and scenes. Using a limited palette of 3-6 contrasting markers or colored pencils, we’ll show how even a few colors can create dynamic, cohesive compositions. We'll also incorporate adhesives and ephemera like ticket stubs, fun washi tape and receipts to add texture and authenticity. Embracing a nonlinear approach, we’ll use creative prompts to inspire fresh ways to document your travels—whether it's nature, fashion, food, or landscapes.

By the end, students will have a collection of ideas and techniques for continuing this fun practice during to record next travel adventure, visually.

Students are encouraged to bring a sketchbook, plus, paper mementos from a recent trip to use during the class for incorporate collage into their sketchbook

Learn the basics of Drawing shadow and light with instructor Marcella. She will teach skills of identifying the light source, and how to render shadows and highlights on a variety of surfaces. We will practice different pencil techniques for building lightness and darkness in our compositions. A still life will be assembled and we will draw this from a variety of perspectives.

Hire Marcella for a private watercolor event for your group! 

Marcella has facilitated her watercolor classes for team building sessions, a variety of corporate events and large groups. 

All classes can be taught in Person or via Zoom. The experience can be tailored to the client in terms of subject matter and size of the group. Marcella has facilitated classes ranging from 12 to 50 participants, and her approachable style to teaching watercolor allows people of all levels to learn the basics of watercolor and employ the techniques in their own paintings.  At minimum, the experience allows everyone to enjoy learning a new skill.

When teaching virtually, Marcella’s two camera viewpoint allows participants to receive instruction and while she demonstrates techniques up close, in real time. Materials can be shipped individually to each participant.

In person, Marcella has the ability to address questions and most often engage one on one with participants.
